Western Mongolia, Foxhunting and Eagle Festival

SEPTEMBER 17 - OCTOBER 1, 2026

Hunting with female golden eagles is a traditional form of falconry practiced by Kazakh Eagle Hunters of Western Mongolia in the province of Bayan-Ölgii, Mongolia. Their falconry custom involves hunting with golden eagles on horseback, and they primarily hunt red and corsac foxes, as well as hares, marmots, and Pallas cats. This trip offers a week of actual hunting (this is not a tourist performance) while riding to eagle huntsmen on your incredible Mongolian horse. Visits with local nomadic families along the way, and an Eagle Festival at the end make this the ultimate hunting, cultural, and just plain fun experience available.

NEW for 2026! We offer two levels of riding groups on this trip. The first group will stay as close as possible to the eagle hunter and the action! We also have a guide for riders that may or may not choose to stay up front and go as fast, but rather at times take a different pace or route, while being nearby the action. Both groups will be in proximity to each other with the option of changing groups as the day unfolds. Everyone will gather for lunch and do a bulk of the day’s riding together as well as participating in any family visits along the way. Having this option allows friends and family with slightly different riding levels to experience this together!
